Portugal boss has no regrets choosing Ronaldo bench ahead of World Cup quarter-final elimination.

Fernando Santos, Portugal national team manager insists he has no regrets over the decision to drop Cristiano Ronaldo as a substitute in their World Cup quarter-final defeat to Morocco.

“I don’t regret choosing him to sit on the bench. I chose a team that performed well in the last game against Switzerland. And there’s no reason to change teams. It’s a tactical decision. It’s one of the hardest decisions I’ve made, but I don’t think it through my heart. I used the ideas in my head to choose it. It doesn’t mean that Ronaldo is no longer a great player. There is nothing to said about that.”
