Visual Diary
The annual visit to see relatives and to replenish the stock of bookbinding materials from specialist stores in the UK literally froze me on my tracks. The sudden 25 centigrade drop in temperature made me swear I’ll never complain “It’s too hot” anymore. And to repeat what I’ve always replied in my past dozen years in England to all the jokey comments “But you should be used to it, you’re from Finland”: the cold IS different in Finland, it is dry, not damp and it doesn’t seep into the core of your bones. I think I’ll only ever return to the UK in the summer from now on. (Arp08)
